Kanshi Ram, the founder of Bahujan Samaj Party passed away yesterday night. This is a great loss. But then, death is a fact that all of us must recognise. It is important to pursue the struggle for justice, freedom from oppression. Leaders lead and set an example for the posterity. Kanshi Ram is one such leader, who can be considered to have followed the call of Dr.BR Ambedkar for uniting the dalits and staking claim to political power. Kanshi Ram supported in creation of second rung leadership. Mayawati, is an example of the leadership that has pursued the cause of dignity for dalits while not hurting others .

Youth need to fight discrimination through consistent assertion of rights. Dalit youths need to continue work destroying the caste based attitudes and pursuing justice for all. Kanshi Ram was a product of post indepedance when the ideals of freedom movment were realised. He called for destruction of Manuwad with reference to its affrimation of caste based discrimination. Kashi Ram called for respect for role models who were just. His death is an occassion to recall the history and define the contours of the future..our own future..that we need to shape..and we will...killing the machinations of Mara/ Shaitan
